Repairman Playing Piano at Customer’s Home
Tyler ThePiano Playing Appliance Repairman
When most people call the appliance repairman, they expect someone to come to their house, figure out what’s wrong with their appliance, fix it, and leave. Maybe he’ll even give you a few tips on how to keep your appliances running well in the summer or how to pick your next washing machine. And most of the time, that’s what happens. No one expects to see their appliance repairman playing the piano. However, we here at A Plus Certified Appliance hold ourselves to a higher standard. If you hire us, there’s a chance that you will receive some high-quality musical entertainment to go along with your repaired appliance.
Our owner, Tyler Adkins, is a man of many talents. The one that people generally see is his ability to repair appliances of all different types and brands. You name it, Tyler can fix it. But many people aren’t aware that Tyler is also a skilled musician. In his spare time, Tyler enjoys playing and writing music for the piano.
A Plus customer Cheryl Parsa’s day was made when her appliance repairman, following a conversation about the piano in her living room, offered to play for her a piece of his own composition. What followed was possibly the only recorded instance of an appliance repairman playing the piano while on-site for a repair. If that isn’t great customer service, then I don’t what is.
The piece Tyler performed is called Life’s Beautiful Turmoil, and he performed it on a 1918 Steinway piano, one of the finest ever to hit the market. As Tyler explains in the video, the piece contains a few “musical conflicts”, such as major and minor key played at the same time. In this piece, those conflicts work together to create a beautiful musical depiction of the ups and downs of life. It is wonderfully written and beautifully performed, a real testament to Tyler’s musical ability.
